Sir

I have the honor to inform you, that at the General Meeting of this Society, held on the 7th. June 1871, you were elected an Honorary Member of the Asiatic Society of Bengal.1 It is a great pleasure to me to communicate this information to you on the part of the Council of the Asiatic Society.

I also take pleasure in informing you that the publications of this Society for the current year have been forwarded to your address, and I shall continue to transmit to you the Society’s publications in the same way, unless you desire to point out an agency who would receive them on your behalf.2
