Jedediah Hyde Baxter

American physician. BS, Vermont, 1859; MD 1860. Commissioned as surgeon of the Twelfth Massachusetts Volunteers, 1861. Assistant medical purveyor to the regular corps, 1867; chief medical purveyor, 1872; colonel, 1874; surgeon general, 1890.
