Anne de Wahl () (1830–1869)

1804–69

Schoolteacher. Daughter of Anne Palgrave and Edward Rigby. Cousin of Maria Hooker, Joseph Dalton Hooker’s mother. Married in 1830 in Framingham Earl, Norfolk, Charles or Carl George de Wahl (1806–76) of Wattel (now Vatla), Estonia. Divorced him, 1837. Ran girls’ schools in Norwich, 1841, and London, 1851. Lived with her brother, Roger Rigby, in Godalming, Surrey, 1861. Died in Slough, Buckinghamshire. Mother of Eduard George de Wahl MD, whom J. D. Hooker met in St Petersburg in 1869.
