George Henry Ford

South African artist. Assistant to Andrew Smith, 1821–4. Artist, Cape Town Museum, 1825; expedition for exploring Central Africa, 1834–6. Moved to England in 1837. Artist, British Museum, 1837 until circa 1875. Friend of Albert Günther and illustrator of several of his works; provided illustrations for the second volume of Descent.
