Diplomat. Joined the diplomatic service in Hong Kong, 1844; first assistant, Shanghai consulate, 1854. Vice-consul, Whampoa, then Canton (Guangzhou), 1861; Shanghai, 1864. Consul, Ningpo (Ningbo), 1864. Also served in Ningpo as Danish consul.
