Lawyer. Brother of Thomas Henry Farrer. BA, Oxford (Balliol College), 1844. Solicitor, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, high bailiff of Westminster, 1868–87, and solicitor to the Grenadier Guards. Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, the Society of Antiquaries, and the Geological Society of London. Knighted, 1887.
