John Llewelyn (Llewelyn) Davies
1826–1916
Anglican theologian and education reformer. Helped found the London Working Men’s College in 1854. Brother of Emily Davies, the educationalist; supported higher education for women. Clergyman at Christ Church, Marylebone, London, 1856–89. Chaplain to the queen, 1876–1901, and to the king, 1901–16.
