François-Charles-Louis (Charles) Comte
1782–1837
French lawyer, economist, and politician. Founded the journal Le censeur, 1814. Professor of natural law, Lausanne, 1821–3. Collaborated on the Edinburgh Review in England, 1823–6. Returned to France in 1826. Took various political offices in France after 1830. Wrote on law, politics, and economics.
