Johann Baptist Zwecker

1815–76

German-born painter and illustrator. Studied art in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt. Came to London circa 1860 and set up a studio with Josef Wolf at 59 Berners Street, London. Illustrated a number of natural history publications including Henry Walter Bates’s The naturalist on the river Amazons (1863).
