Samuel George Morton
1799–1851
American physician and ethnologist. Known for his research on human skulls. Recording secretary of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, 1825–9; corresponding secretary, 1831; vice-president, 1840, president, 1849. Professor of anatomy in the medical department, Pennsylvania College, 1839–43.
