Katharine Murray Lyell (1848–1915)

1817–1915

Botanist and literary editor. Daughter of Leonard Horner. Married Henry Lyell, brother of Charles Lyell, in 1848. Compiled a geographical handbook of fern distribution in 1870. Her collection of plants from India was given to the British Museum; her fern collection was given to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Edited Life, letters and journals of Sir Charles Lyell (1881), and Life and letters of Sir Charles J. F. Bunbury (1906).
