René Primevère Lesson
1794–1849
French naval surgeon and naturalist. Medical officer on board the Coquille, 1822–5. Published the results of his zoological investigations made during the voyage. Taught botany at the naval medical school, Rochefort, 1829–31; appointed professor of pharmacy, 1831. Became the top-ranking navy pharmacist in 1835.
