Gustav Heinrich Kirchenpauer
1808–87
German lawyer, politician, and amateur naturalist. Served several non-consecutive terms as Erste Bürgermeister (mayor) of Hamburg from 1869, and served as the city’s authorised representative to the Bundesrat, 1867–81. Published on marine fauna and flora of the Elbe estuary, for which he received an honorary DPhil. from the University of Kiel, 1872.
