East-Indian born Anglican cleric, educator, and author. Grandson of Gideon Acland. Ordained priest, 1860. Curate, Holy Trinity, Gray’s Inn Road, London, 1859; St Olave’s, Hart Street, 1863. Fellow, Radley College, Berkshire, 1863–7; mathematical tutor, 1866–7. Headmaster, Colchester Grammar School, 1870–92. Vicar, All Saints’, Cambridge, 1892–1903. Wrote on the antiquities of the Hebrides.
