Botanist and entomologist. Demonstrator of plants and praefectus horti at the Chelsea Physic Garden, 1772–7. Established botanic gardens in Bermondsey in 1773, Lambeth in 1779, Brompton in 1789. Founded the Botanical Magazine in 1781. Published on entomology and botany.
