Luigi Monti
1830–1914
Italian author and lecturer. Educated in Palermo. Served in the revolutionary army, 1848–9; exiled, 1850. Instructor in Italian, Harvard, 1854–9. United States consul at Palermo, 1861–73. Lectured at the Lowell Institute, Wellesley, Vassar, and the Peabody Institute, Baltimore. Published works on Italian grammar and travel, as well as translations from Italian.
