Scottish gardener. Sir Walter Scott’s gardener at Abbotsford, Melrose, Scotland, and Lady Dorothy Fanny Nevill’s head gardener at Dangstein, west Sussex, and Stillyans, Heathfield, east Sussex. A specialist in orchid growing.
