Tiyo Soga
1829–71
Xhosa missionary. Educated at church schools in South Africa; trained as a missionary in Glasgow with the United Presbyterian Church. Qualified as a minister in Edinburgh in 1856. Opened a new mission among the Ngqika (Gaikas), on the Mgwali river, British Kaffraria, thirty miles from King William’s Town, in 1857.
