William Garland Barrett
1812–65
Missionary. Missionary in Jamaica, 1834–45; in Demerara (now part of Guyana), South America, 1845–8. Returned to England in 1848. Pastor of the John Street Chapel, Royston, Hertfordshire; established a geological class for the youth of the town and published a popular introduction to the subject in 1855. District secretary to aid the formation and working of Missionary Associations, 1855–9.
