Auguste-Henri-André Duméril

1812–70

French herpetologist and ichthyologist. Son of André Marie Constant Duméril, with whom he worked at the Jardin des Plantes, Paris, 1853–7. Professor, 1857–70. Bred axolotls in captivity. Author of works on reptiles, fish, and animal physiology.
