Augustus De Morgan
1806–71
Mathematician and historian. BA, Trinity College, Cambridge, 1827. Professor of mathematics, London University, 1828–31 and 1836–66. Elected a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1828; served at various times as secretary and vice-president. Member of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, which published many of his works.
