Jacob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy

Composer. Travelled extensively in his early twenties, becoming a great favourite in England. Town director of music in Düsseldorf, 1833–5. Director of the Conservatory, Leipzig, and conductor of the Gewandhaus Concerts, 1845–7.
