I am much obliged for your kind & interesting note, & printed extract, which latter however is not very clear.2 I will consider all that you have suggested & shall be extremely glad to read at some future time your valuable memoir when published.—3 I remember your visit here with much pleasure,4 & remain with all good wishes | Yours very faithfully | Charles Darwin


The year is established by the relationship between this letter and the letter from Alpheus Hyatt, 8 January [1875].
An abstract of Hyatt’s memoir on Jurassic ammonites (Hyatt 1874) was published in 1875.
It is not known when Hyatt visited Down.
