Dear Mr Darwin
I have spoken to Mr Bruce1 about the insertion of a Cousin’s Marriage column in the Census Paper:2 He was quite alive to the importance of the point involved & begged me to assure you that it was receiving their very careful consideration: beyond this I could not get him but it will not be overlooked & if it can be done without great extra labour or unless other returns should appear to have a higher claim I have hopes that your wishes may be granted.
I will not lose sight of it & will be at him again about it when I have a chance; I believe there will be a discussion on the question before long & if you can get any members to back it up, so much the better
Yours faithfully | H Hussey Vivian
