To Adolf Reuter   15 January [1870]1

Down. | Beckenham | Kent. S.E.

Jan 15th.

My dear Sir

I am very sorry to hear of your accident, which seems to have been of a serious nature. I received the fruit all safely, and guessed that the specimens were sent by you. I was surprised at the vine with red leaves, and admired much the beans of the Phaseolus2

Your new residence sounds very delightful, and I hope that it will suit you in every respect.

Pray believe me My dear Sir | yours very faithfully | Ch. Darwin
