To B. W. Hawkins   [c. 1 October 1843]1

Down

Saturday.

Dear Sir

I enclose your account with an order on the back.— I have written to Hullmandel,2 to print off & have pointed out the badness of the impressions of some of the Plates, (as 20) which were sent me.— See if Mr Bells are as bad & if so, will you take the trouble to call on Hullmandel & remonstrate: it wd be a pity to have the last number spoilt—

I beg to express the satisfaction, which I have experienced in all my transactions with you & with my best wishes.

I remain, | Yours very faithfully | C. Darwin

P.S. | I will not forget, shd opportunity offer, to recommend any naturalists who may require illustrations to you.—
