Very many thanks for your note. You give me exactly the information which I wanted. I have looked at your Plates & Text & the cases are capital & quite new to me.— It was odd & stupid in me not to think of looking for this object to your work.—2

The year is established by the relationship between this letter and the letter from A. C. L. G. Günther, 19 December 1867.
In his letter of 19 December 1867, Günther referred CD to plates and passages in his book on Indian reptiles (Günther 1864) for information about sexual differences.
