To subscribers to T. H. Huxley’s gift [25 April 1873]1

The sum of £2150, subscribed by 18 of Prof. Huxley’s friends, was paid into his account on April 23rd. & 25th.2 On April 23rd., Mr. Darwin wrote to inform Prof Huxley of the fact, & he has this morning received an answer, of which the enclosed is a copy.3 As 17 copies could not be made within a sufficiently short time, Mr. Darwin begs the recipient to forward this letter & this circular to the person whose name stands next on the subjoined list—4
