To J. D. Hooker 26 July [1871]
Down, | Beckenham, Kent.
July 26th
My dear Hooker
We were thinking how very nice it would be, if you could come down for a Sunday. Our only fear is, that there are not bed-rooms enough, for though the rent is gigantic the House is very small.— I will write when we are there.— We must keep bed-room for Mr. Litchfield & we have asked my Brother..—1 We hear that the situation is beautiful.—
I am particularly obliged for information about the Mouse.—2
It is capital about your Charlie3
Ever yours | C. Darwin
We heard from Lady L. a good account of Lyell.—4
