My dear Uncle Charles—
Many thanks for your kind letter & we are very much obliged to you for consenting to be god father— I never thought at all of asking you to stand in person, as I knew that was impossible any how—2
The little lady has been christened now & we have called her Maud as being a short & not very common name— When one meets with a refusal about the sponsorship, it makes one hesitate about asking others, though I suppose Sponsors are necessary..
