From Jean Charles Léonard Simonde de and Jessie Sismondi to Emma Darwin 1 July 1840
Tenby
[J. C. L. Sismondi expresses his admiration for Journal of researches. The book has shown him the character of the man who married Emma. He is impressed by CD’s knowledge of natural science and his powers of observation. He is especially struck by the physical strength CD displayed against so many privations, a strength which he is sure will return.
The remainder of his and Mme. Sismondi’s letter describes social events at Tenby.]
