Darwin's account of the Beagle voyage, based on his personal diaries, is published and is a great success. It appeared as the third volume of the Narrative of the surveying voyage of H.M.S. Adventure and Beagle, with the title Journal and remarks but was almost immediately republished and sold separately as Journal of researches into the geology and natural history of the various countries visited by H.M.S. Beagle.
