Henry Cadogan Rothery
1817–88
Legal adviser. BA, Cambridge (St John’s) 1840. Employed in ecclesiastical and Admiralty courts from 1842. Became registrar of the Privy Council in ecclesiastical and maritime causes, circa 1854. In 1860, succeeded his father as legal adviser to the Treasury in questions and proceedings arising out of the slave trade. Appointed commissioner to inquire into the causes and circumstances of maritime wrecks, 1876. Fellow of the Linnean Society, 1847.
