From J. V. Carus 18 November 1874
Leipzig
Novbr 18th. 1874.
My dear Sir,
I am sorry, I am again obliged to trouble you about a mistake, or rather an omission.1 On p. 214 you quote a paper of H. Müller; but the Periodical referred to is not to be known from the quotation you give. “Verh. d. V.” can only mean “Verhandlungen des Vereins”, “Transactions of the Society.” The same occurs again on p 228 with the addition of an “n”, that is most likely “naturhistorische”.2 Now, there exists such a multitude of Natural History Societies, that no one unacquainted with the litterature could guess what Society is meant. I suppose, the “naturhistorische Verein der preussischen Rheinland” is the one. But I have unfortunately just in this moment no means to ascertain it. I hope to be able to do it when the sheet containing these notes will be in print.3 In the mean time I thought it my duty to point the fact out to you
Believe me | Ever yours truly, | Prof J. Victor Carus
