To a member of the Athenaeum Club 9 March [1874]1
Down, | Beckenham, Kent.
March 9th.
My dear Sir
If you can attend the Ballotting at the Athenæum, will you be so kind as to give your vote (& exert any influence on others which you properly can) in favour of my nephew, Henry Parker.— He is a fellow of Oriel, & I can assure you that he is a fit man for election from his abilities, & in every other respect.— His ballot comes on at the first meeting on the 16th this month.2
Pray believe me, my dear Sir | Yours sincerely | Ch. Darwin
