Darwin Correspondence Project

From M. T. Masters   27 September 1873

Mount Avenue | Ealing | W

Septr. 27 1873

My dear Sir/

I know I am asking a great favor but I am emboldened to do so by the kindness you have at various times shown me and by the interest you have taken in Gard. Chron.1

The fact is that we are contemplating sundry changes in the G. C. on which I should highly value your suggestions and counsel. Might I therefore beg a quarter of an hour’s chat with you on the subject at your residence. Should it be perfectly consistent with your convenience to permit this intrusion will you kindly fix a day and hour—choosing if possible not a Wednesday or a Thursday—and not a very early hour in the morning—

Be pleased at once to say No if this be inconvenient and believe me | faithfully yrs Maxwell. T. Masters.

Footnotes

Masters was editor of the Gardeners’ Chronicle. In 1874, a new series of the Gardeners’ Chronicle was established.
