Darwin Correspondence Project

To Lawson Tait   8 October 1871

Down, | Beckenham, Kent.

Oct 8 1871

Dear Sir

I do not know any thing about a supra-condyloid process in the humerus; yet I have a vague remembrance of having heard of it.1 But my knowledge of anatomy is quite insufficient to be trusted.

If you publish on this subject I shd be grateful for a copy of your paper—2

Dear Sir | yours very faithfully | Ch. Darwin

Footnotes

No letter from Tait on this subject has been found. CD mentioned the supra-condyloid foramen of the humerus in Descent 1: 28 and had some correspondence on the subject after publication; see letter from George Rolleston, 22 February 1871 and n. 3, and letter from George Busk, 10 March 1871.
Tait apparently did not publish on the subject.

Bibliography

Descent: The descent of man, and selection in relation to sex. By Charles Darwin. 2 vols. London: John Murray. 1871.

Summary

Does not know anything about a supra-condyloid process on the humerus, but would like to see RLT’s paper should he publish on the subject.
