March 7th

My dear Sir

I am astonished & much pleased to hear that you have finished the Translation.2 You must have worked very hard & I heartily congratulate you that your labour is over.— I shall be delighted if it can be published soon in Paris, which I by no means expected. I enclose Proof of end of Index.—3 The book has sold largely in England & I have not as yet been much abroad—4

In Haste | yours very sincerely | Ch. Darwin
