Darwin Correspondence Project

From John Lubbock   23 July [1870]1

15, Lombard Street, E.C.

23 July

My dear Mr. Darwin

As you may perhaps have seen in the Times I brought forward the Cousin question at about half past one last night, or rather this morning.2

It would be desirable to get some members to speak to Mr Bruce on the subject.3 I read most of your letter to the House.4

I am glad you like my book.5 It is almost all sold.

Hoping to see you tomorrow I remain, dear Mr Darwin, | Yours most sincerely | John Lubbock

Footnotes

For the report on the second reading of the Census Bill, including Lubbock’s proposal that a question on cousin marriages be added, see The Times, 23 July 1870, pp. 7–8.
