I have the honour to transmit, as on former occasions, for the approval of the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty’s Treasury, the account of Mrss. Smith & Elder for the Second number of the Fifth Part of the “Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle” which is now published & which completes the Work.1 The expenditure of each part has been, as before, under my superintendence & the accounts have been examined by me.— I beg permission to express my grateful thanks to the Lords Commissioner for the assistance they have been pleased to render in the publication of this Work, & I have the honour to remain Sir | Your obliged & obedt. servant | Charles Darwin To the | Secretary of the Treasury
