Messrs Appleton & Co (Publishers) New York have directed me to write to you and ask if you will supply them with a Set of Stereotype Plates of your New book for the American Market,1 they will pay the cost of Plates, and give you copyright of 10[per cent] on the sale of copies, same as they do with Profr Huxley, Profr Bain2 and Mr. Herbert Spencer— They would also like to have a Set of Stereotype Plates of New Editn Origin of Species on same terms3 an early reply will oblige
