I have the honour to transmit, as on former occasions, for the approval of the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty’s Treasury the account of Mrs. Smith and Elder for the third number of the Part 4. of the “Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle”, which is now published.—1 I beg leave to state, that as before I have examined the account and superintended the expenditure of each part.

Preserved with this letter is an account from Smith, Elder & Co., dated April 1841, detailing the various costs of Fish, No. 3. The total expense was £37 1s. 0d.
