I have the honour to transmit, as on former occasions, for the approval of the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesties Treasury, the account of Messrs. Smith & Elder for the Second number of Part Four of the “Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle”, which is now published.—1 I beg leave to state, that as before I have examined the account, and superintended the expenditure of each part.

Preserved with this letter is an account from Smith, Elder & Co., dated 1 June 1840, detailing the various costs of Fish, No. 2. The total expense was £41 10s. 4d.
