My dear Hooker

I write a line only to thank you for Hodson’s paper, but I have it in print & it is a very good one; therefore I return it to you.2

It was foolish in me to say a word about continental extensions, for I said it so briefly that I think you misunderstand me; we can however fight that battle when we meet.3 Remember the gooseberries4
