My Dear Darwin.

On Saturday last—the 27th—on the receipt of your note,1 I posted to you— addressed to you—to Down near Bromley—a heavy letter containing some folio m.ss. in a large paid cover—4d postage.2

Not having heard from you, I am afraid it may have miscarried.
