The year is given by the publication of a reprint edition of Journal of researches.
The 1860 edition of Journal of researches, the tenth-thousand printed, was published in the same green cloth binding as Origin (Freeman 1977, p. 36). Previous editions published by Murray had been bound in red cloth.
