Dated by the reference to the third volume of I. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire 1854–62.
The third volume of I. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire 1854–62 was issued in two parts, the first of which was published in 1860. The volume requested by CD includes discussions of the origin of domestic animals, teratology, and hybridisation. In the back of his copy, CD noted: ‘I have selected only for my 1st volume *on Dom Animals [interl blue crayon]—   Must be all gone over again & Indexed Especially for Hybridisation very good.—’ CD’s annotated copy of the entire work is in the Darwin Library–CUL.
