Last night I sent off per carrier to be forwarded per Deliverance Coy the 3 vols of D.C. & Brown’s Prod.—2 You will get them on Thursday night or Friday morning; & very many thanks for loan.

I will write in a few days time about results when I have calculated them3

Although the endorsement reads ‘Jany 58’, the letter was clearly written after the letter to J. D. Hooker, 12 January [1858]. The date is based on the relationship to the letter to J. D. Hooker, 9 February [1858].
Candolle and Candolle 1824–73 and Brown 1810. CD had borrowed the books from Hooker and had been delayed in returning them (see letter to J. D. Hooker, 12 January [1858]).
