Down, | Beckenham, Kent. | (Railway Station | Orpington. S.E.R.)

April 3d 1882

Dear Sir

I am very much obliged to you for having kindly sent me your Catalogue of the Chilian plants, which must have cost you much labour.1 How much we know of the natural history of Chili to what was known many years ago when I visited that magnificent country!2 And how much of this increased knowledge the world owes to you.—

With much respect, I remain | Dear Sir | Yours faithfully | Charles Darwin
