I have just received a copy of your “Vegetable Mould & Earth Worms” through Mr Murray.1

I offer you my best thanks for this, & for the honour you have done me of placing my name on your pages, which have given mankind so advanced, & so commanding a starting point for the interpretation & intellectual construction of the Cosmos2
